Yoga Teacher Trainer

Jemma

After dancing for many years, Jemma began studying in New York in 1999 and received her 200 Hour Yoga Teacher Certification in 2005. Originally attracted to the non-competitive nature of yoga, Jemma’s background in movement and in psychology later led her to the study of how yoga can help those suffering from emotional, psychiatric, and chemical disorders. Over the years, Jemma has taught yoga in various settings, including yoga studios, CrossFit gyms, psychiatric hospitals, and drug rehabilitation clinics.

Jemma’s teaching style draws inspiration from her background in dance and from the many different disciplines of yoga. She has studied with Dharma Mittra, Nikki Vilella, Schuyler Grant, and many other teachers in New York City. In 2008, she found her “home” yoga studio in NYC: Kula Yoga Project, which expanded her curiosity for intelligent sequencing and alignment in the vinyasa practice. She subsequently completed Kula’s 90-hour advanced teacher training in 2011 and completed an additional 90 hours of Kula training in 2019.

Jemma has been on the faculty of several yoga teacher training programs in New York and in Rotterdam. Having lived all over the world, including the United States, Europe, and Asia, yoga has been the one constant in Jemma’s journey, and it continues to transform her life. She is excited to share her passion for the practice with the YG community.
