Pieter
Pieter is a movement specialist with a deep understanding of anatomy, physiology, and the art of functional healing. He is the founder of Art of Physio, an innovative health and therapy center based in Amsterdam and Bussum, designed around one core principle: effective care should be personal, holistic, and tailored to the individual. Over the past decade, Art of Physio has grown into a multidisciplinary practice that integrates physiotherapy, chiropractic care, personal training, and group classes—with a focus on vitality, movement, and longevity.
After completing his Bachelor’s degree in Physiotherapy in 2012, Pieter founded his own practice in 2015. A year later, he discovered Active Release Techniques (ART)—a cutting-edge treatment method developed in the U.S. that allows practitioners to locate and resolve the source of pain and dysfunction with precision. This powerful tool became a cornerstone of his approach, helping people move and feel better faster.
Beyond his work with clients, Pieter has a strong passion for education. He began teaching anatomy and physiology at a yoga teacher training during his studies and has continued to share his knowledge ever since. Today, he is one of Europe’s official ART instructors, training osteopaths, chiropractors, physiotherapists, and massage therapists across the continent. He also regularly teaches workshops and lectures for trainers, physicians, and healthcare professionals.
In this teacher training, Pieter brings a clear, practical, and inspiring approach to understanding the human body. His aim is to help yoga teachers and dedicated practitioners deepen their knowledge of anatomy and biomechanics, prevent injury, and bring more awareness to their practice—on and off the mat. With his guidance, you’ll gain valuable tools to move better, teach smarter, and care for your students with confidence.
